Bogota

Street Festival

On Sunday, well into the afternoon, so my Swiss host told me, there would be a street market and all sorts of things going on. He cautioned me about the crowds and pick-pockets, and told me to have fun. Here is the main intersection with the museum of gold (didn't have time to get in there) ,library, a cathedral, and lots of street vendors in one direction, and a pro-dog rally (bottom picture) in the other.

And there we are, a highly energized pro-dog mass of people - with lots and lots of dogs

Just to see, I moved down the street to a different square just outside the safety zone (for tourists) where cops where busily arresting loitering derelicts. It seemed peaceful and colorful enough, but with all of the activity behind me, I turned back.

Hmm...I just now noticed the sign forbidding photography. I was so busy trying to get good support for my camera, I missed that completely

Back outside, in the opposite direction, the street market and lots and lots of people enjoying the spectacle

A native and his loom that he used to weave name bracelets

Sugar cane juice among the many snacks offered here.

And now fully dressed - she did the whole change right there. Above left, a native vendor selling alpaca goods
